This is an exciting post to enhance the already excellent dermatology services of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust based at Southlands, Worthing and St Richard's Hospitals
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be supported by a team of forward thinking and dynamic Consultant Dermatologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Trainees, Clinical Fellows and GPs with a Specialist Interest. Out-patient facilities are on all sites and are built to accommodate the Dermatology service requirements. There is a phototherapy unit at the Southlands site with TLO1 and PUVA. We also provide Photodynamic therapy and patch testing services. We have Dermatology Nurse Specialists and Skin Cancer Nurse Specialists to provide clinical support for the Consultants currently in post.
The primary role of the dermatologists is to manage patients with high risk skin cancers and complex medical dermatology cases. We are expecting the successful candidate to actively participate in the development of the dermatology service at UHS, working closely with the established team in Southlands.
Clinicians are supported by Consultant Histopathologists all of whom have a specialist interest and expertise in skin pathology and there is an alternate weekly multidisciplinary review meeting of skin Pathology. The skin cancer service includes a successful joint cross site MDT. The Dermatology department works closely with the MFU department for the management of patients requiring more complex head and neck surgical intervention

Experience/ Qualifications
Essential
- oBasic Medical degree
- oPostgraduate qualification or its recognised equivalent
- oFull registration and a licence to practice with the General Medical Council
- oCompleted a minimum of 12 years medical/dental work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical/dental qualification, of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years' experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted
