An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our team in the Community Paediatrics department. You will be based in the Child Development Centre at Worthing Hospital, Lyndhurst Road, Worthing.
Duties include providing a comprehensive and efficient secretarial and administrative service to the Consultant Community Paediatricians and the wider members of our team to include Specialty Doctors, Junior Doctors and therapists. To ensure all work is prioritised according to the needs of the service.

Managing your own workload you will require excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with NHS colleagues, patients, relatives, schools, Social Workers by telephone, email and face to face.
You must be adaptable and have the ability to embrace change.
Knowledge of working within a health care environment is desirable but not essential.

- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
- Secretarial/PA Qualification
- At least two years experience as a Medical Secretary or Secretary
- Advanced Keyboard skills including a recognised typing qualification
- Excellent knowledge of a full range of administrative and secretarial procedures and systems
- Experience of working with IT systems
- Ability to deal with telephone calls/typing letters with a potentially distressing or emotional content
- Experience of audio typing

- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous NHS work experiences in an acute or primary setting
- Demonstrable and proved IT skills
