Job summary

The post holder will be required to provide a high standard of patient care and service delivery within Main Theatres and TAU. The post holder will be an effective member of the theatre team, making best use of resources. The post holder will be required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard of perioperative care within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working as part of the multidisciplinary theatre team to provide a safe, efficient care environment for patients and there carers.

At the RSCH site we provide emergency cover 24/7 365 day a year.

Our operating department provides specialist Services for a range of elective and emergency specialities.

Be a skilled circulating practitioner during an operating list and assisting all members of the theatre team as needed

Accurately enter patients details in the theatre register and on the theatre electronic systems

Act as a circulating practitioner in theatre

Assist in the setting up of theatres, checking equipment and instruments for the session, liaising with the person in charge

Maintain stock levels in theatres

Assisting with the daily checks in theatres

Assist as delegated in an emergency situation

Operate complex medical devices and troubleshooting

Supporting learners and new starters

Processing the collection of complex specimens, ensuring accurate documentation

Being part of complex procedures requiring two circulating practitioners, managing additional equipment and resources

Working in environments with radioactive waste and managing the risk

Transferring patients from/ to the wards/TAU

Organising bed and required equipment
