Paediatric Psychologist - Diabetes and Long Term Health Conditions - Band 8a 0.8 wte permanent

We are seeking a confident Clinical Psychologist to join our established Paediatric Psychology team supporting children with a range of physical health conditions (including Chronic Pain, Cystic Fibrosis, Childhood Cancers, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Perplexing Functional presentations). We work within and alongside multidisciplinary teams with Paediatricians, Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists and Dieticians through our clinics and inpatient facilities at St Richards Hospital in Chichester and Worthing Hospital to provide a responsive therapeutic service for young people and their families. We became adept in the use of virtual video consultations during the pandemic period and have retained this valuable adjunct to our more traditional ways of working.
The post holder will become an integral member of our established Multidisciplinary Paediatric Diabetes Team and 0.4wte sessions will be dedicated to supporting young people with diabetes. They will be responsible for a clinical caseload of children with diabetes and a range of other long term health conditions.
Please note if you are newly/recently qualified you will start as a band 7 progressing to band 8a.
Main duties of the job
We are passionate about providing a high quality holistic service and are looking forward to welcoming a psychologist with drive and enthusiasm onto the team. Support and supervision for this post will be offered by our experienced psychologists. In addition to experienced Paediatric Psychologists welcome enquiries from recently qualified psychologists interested in preceptorship and CAMHS Psychologists interested in moving into the specialty.

To provide a clinical psychology service to children, young people and their families / carers who are users of the Paediatric Department in the western part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex); providing highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions as part of the specialist Paediatric Psychology team. - oDoctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the British Psychological Society.
