Limb Reconstruction Fellowship - Senior Clinical Fellow

Post is vacant from 01 October 2025 to 06 October 2026.

Structured post CCT fellowship training in Limb Reconstruction Surgery. This post is designed to be a stepping-stone towards consultant career.

This is a clinical and research fellowship that willprovide experience in the full range of limb reconstruction surgery, co-supervised by Mr Alastair Robertson and Mr Enis Guryel.

Both consultants teach nationally and internationally on various aspects of Shoulder & Elbow surgery and receive tertiary referrals for complex problems from the surrounding region.

Main duties of the job

Case mix

Deformity correction

o Acute correction and internal fixation

o Gradual correction and Taylor spatial frame

Non-union management

Limb-length discrepancy

Bone infection

o Fracture related infection

o Haematogenous

Segmental bone loss

o Bone transport

Motorised transport nails

External fixator assisted bone transport

o Masquelet

The fellowship is focused on adult limb reconstruction; however, opportunities are available to work with the paediatric orthopaedic team on limb reconstruction cases

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Basic Medical Degree
  • Competencies equivalent to completion of ST6 as a minimum or appropriate specialist qualification
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent

Desirable

  • Higher Degree

Clinical Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Completion of FRCS (Orth) or equivalent
  • Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues

Desirable

  • Demonstrable interest in major and complex trauma
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)

Organisation and Planning

Essential

  • Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
  • Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints

Desirable

  • Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended

Teaching Skills
