University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279)

Fixed Term Consultant Histopathologist

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

Applications are sought for Consultant Cellular Pathologists to join a dynamic team of twelve consultants working in the cellular pathology department at the St Richards Chichester. St Richards hospital is one site across the University Hospitals Sussex NHS foundation trust (UHSussex). The post is a whole-time equivalent fixed term for one year.

The department has a large and varied workload with a system of generalist reporting. An applicant would ideally be able to report two or three sub-specialities. It would be desirable if one of those sub-specialties is Gynaecological pathology, an interest in gastrointestinal pathology would also be useful. The department can accommodate other specialty interests.

The histopathology department is undergoing an accelerated period of change following the creation of UHSussex and the formation of a larger pathology network. There are opportunities for service development with full executive support. We would like to appoint a consultant to be part of these once in a generation changes. One exciting example is the implementation of a complete digital histopathology solution.

The University hospitals of Sussex NHS trust spans both East and West Sussex, providing care for a highly populated stretch of the south coast.

Informal enquiries are welcome by contacting Dr Ceri Morgan (Consultant Cellular Pathologist and clinical lead West side) ceri.morgan3@nhs.net

Main duties of the job

This is a fixed term consultant post within a generalist cellular pathology department.

The appointed individuals would be independently reporting specimens across a couple of specialties, attending MDTs, engaging in clinical governance and participating in the running of the cellular pathology laboratory.

There would be an opportunity for the appointee to be a clinical supervisor to trainee histopathologists.

The post would be based at the St Richards site in Chichester.
