Job summary
My University Hospitals Sussex (MUHS) supports the hospitals and healthcare facilities for patients across Sussex and specialist care to some parts of Kent and Surrey. It raises, manages and distributes funds on behalf of UHSussex and operates under corporate trusteeship, with a Charitable Funds Committee (CFC) overseeing the operation of the charity.
As the Charity enters a new era with an ambitious capital development plan for the future, the Trust wishes to increase charitable income through the establishment of a new Fundraising Manager to increase income into the MUHS funds.
The post of Fundraising Manager is an important position which links the hospital charity, the Trust and the local community. The post holder will require extensive knowledge of fundraising and considerable energy and enthusiasm to inspire visitors, patients and others to choose MUHS as their preferred charity to support.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that fundraising ideas and events are in place that have high impact and will generate funds to agreed targets. The post holder will go out into the community to create a network with groups and individuals, offering high quality fundraising options and lifting the profile of the charity. Working closely with community groups, the ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, keen for direct contact with people, be good at motivating and be self-confident as well as a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
Main duties of the job
Initiate, develop and implement the Fundraising strategy and plan for the Charity
Lead, promote and co-ordinate fundraising events and activities, ensuring that sponsorship funds are processed effectively and events are well planned, marketed and supported and comply with Health & Safety standards
Nurture relationships with hospital staff to encourage creation of and participation in fundraising activities and events and lifting the profile of the charity internally
Define and lead the campaigns strategy to create special campaigns or appeals to raise awareness to a range of community audiences to boost profile
Assist or delegate for the Head of Fundraising and Communications (as required) to attend regional and local fundraising events, as developed by the Charity and aligned Charities. Other activities as leader of the wider fundraising team to encourage donations and develop greater volunteers support
The Charity Fundraising Manager is responsible for line managing the following staff:
Special Projects Fundraiser - Band 6
Community & Events Fundraiser - Band 5
Public & Mass Fundraiser - Band 5
