Job summary

Are you a passionate family support therapist looking to make a real difference? We would like to invite you to apply for our band 7 family support therapist position working with our multidisciplinary team in the Worthing Child Development Centre.

The role assesses patients and their parents/carers providing and implementing plans and treatment to facilitate their wellbeing as well as monitoring care through the provision of highly specialist advice.

The post holder is the lead specialist in this role for the Worthing child development centre and will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to support children and their families/carers in the care of community paediatrics/child development centre.

The role requires sensitive communication skills when speaking with children and their families/carers regarding diagnoses, offering support and counselling to help manage the feelings they may have.

The position enables the families and carers to maximise the potential they have to cope with the emotional, financial and physical challenges that the diagnosis of their child presents.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct assessments and develop specialist programmes of care for patients families/carers
  • Communicating sensitively with children families and carers and the multidisciplinary team
  • Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team and external agencies to the benefit of the patient/family/carers
  • Carry out home visits
  • Develop and implement policy where necessary
  • Incorporate service development/improvement in to day to day working, taking into account service user feedback
  • Continue self development/training to benefit self and the service.
