Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to come and work with our forward thinking, inclusive, continuity of care teams at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
Our teams are friendly and cohesive teams that put women and people who birth at the centre of their care and embrace partnership working. We are looking formidwives wanting to provide continuity of carer to women and people of within one of our two teams based currently at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. One team provides care to women/people with medical comorbidities (MASt) whilst the other team cares for women/people with a wide range of backgrounds and social complexities (Juniper) Please state your teamof interest in your supporting statement.
This role can involve working across two sites in Sussex
We deliver over 5,000 babies per year across the two sites and have a celebrated home birth service.
We would like to hear from qualified midwives, passionate to deliver high quality care. If you would like to contribute to our maternity services and in "making a difference", we would be very pleased to hear from you. Applicants from Black, Asian and minority backgrounds who have additional language skills will be welcomed.
However, all applicants must be aware that this is a 24 hour 7 day a week service and in order to meet service requirements you will be called upon to work long days, nights and weekend shifts or an "on-call" model of care provision.
Main duties of the job
To make a difference to the women and their families we care for. To provide a high standard of Midwifery care to women and people predominantly in the Royal Sussex County Hospital, before during and following childbirth in both Acute and Primary Care Settings according to UHSussex Policies and Standards
As a qualified midwife the post holder will be required to provide the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct deliveries under their own responsibility and care of the new born.
The post holder will be required to participate in their continuing professional development and other development activities including preceptorship
The post holder requires effective communication skills and an ability to provide support for both the community and inpatient team leaders/Co-ordinators to ensure effective multidisciplinary team working.
