Job summary
Applications are invited for a Multi-professional Education Development Fellowship in Emergency Medicine part sponsored by NHSE. The post is available from August 2024 for 12 months. As a department we are looking to evolve multi-professional training and education by appointing a Senior Clinical Fellow to develop and integrate education and training for our doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills and embed multi-professional education and service improvement.
Our clinical fellow posts have been rolled out across the whole of the Medical Division, recognising the importance of combining clinical work and professional development at an early stage of your career. We want to develop and expand these roles to offer exciting professional development opportunities within the field of Emergency Medicine, which in itself is such a broad-based specialty. The post is ideal for people with a developing passion for Emergency Medicine who want to consolidate their experience and pursue a specialist interest in Medical Education. They will enable time to be spent developing non-clinical experience or skills during the 30% non-clinical time.
We recognise the need for multi-professional training and development to create a sustainable workforce for the future and improve patient care.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must be comfortable assessing and initiating management of cases presenting to the department, and will be encouraged to develop team leadership skills, with supervision. It is expected the post holders will act as role models for medical students and will have excellent communication skills and initiative.
The rota is a full shift rota, working between 46-48 hours including out of hours working. The Clinical Fellow post-holder will work a semi-self-rostering system which would involve weekend and night shift working. This ensures that candidates can organise their lives and make space for family, leisure or other commitments to suit themselves.
The post holder is required to participate in the Trust appraisal process and work towards meeting identified development needs.
The post holder is required to demonstrate on-going continuous professional development.
At no time should the post holder work outside their defined level of competence. If the post holder has concerns regarding this they should immediately discuss this with their Manager/Supervisor/Consultant. The post holder has the responsibility to inform those supervising their duties if they are not competent to perform a duty.
