Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Major Trauma Nurse to provide education on the Major Trauma ward at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The right candidate will provide education and support with professional leadership to the major trauma ward team team working in conjunction with the Ward Manager, Matron, ACCP's and other Senior nurses to promote delivery of professional nursing care to acutely ill patients ensuring the highest possible standards of care are received by patients and carers. The candidate will also lead in the planning, implementation, co-ordination and evaluation of educational activities within the MTC to promote nursing excellence within the unit, and facilitate the continuous professional development and education of all members of staff in a positive learning environment. The applicant will be working closely with other relevant environments and contribute to developing robust clinical governance standards with the MDT.
This post will be reviewed in 6-12 months with a view of increasing banding to Band 7 once competence achieved
Main duties of the job
- Act as an expert clinical practitioner and provide high quality nursing care at senior level
- Ensure the highest quality of nursing care is delivered to all patients with the promotion of evidence based practice
- Contribute to the MTC nursing strategy by developing innovative practice and guidelines for patients across the Trust.
- To integrate policies, education, practise development and research relevant to the clinical area.
- Act as a resource and advisor for future service developments and Trust-wide training and education.
- To provide a rolling educational programme equipping health care professionals with knowledge and skills required to detect acute needs of MTC patients, inclusive of rehab and therapy team involvement.
- To act as a self-directed practitioner, providing support and guidance for staff working within the Major Trauma Ward.
