An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Cardiac team as an cardiac imaging cardiologist. We are looking for a driven & ambitious colleague to develop, lead & expand specialist advanced cardiac imaging services, cardiac CT, MRI &or advance Echo.
The SCC provides all aspects of tertiary cardiac care including percutaneous intervention (with PPCI 24/7), structural intervention (TAVI, PFO, ASD, Mitral, Paravalvular leak), advanced cardiac imaging, complex electrophysiology, device Implantation, laser extraction, & cardiac Surgery.
We currently provide cardiac MRI across 2 sites (RSCH and Worthing) providing over 1000 MRI's per year. Our echo department is BSE accredited and provides training and teaching for physiologist & cardiology trainees. We provide all aspects of advanced echo including TOE & stress echo. Our highly active heart failure service provides excellent care for Sussex patients supported by acute & community specialist nurse led services. We have a dedicated devices team performing 600 device procedures annually including advanced device techniques such as lead extraction & subcutaneous ICD implantation. There has been considerable expansion of electrophysiology services over recent years & this now delivers over 700 EP procedures per year including novel techniques for VT ablation. We have recently created & developed an Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service for Sussex which will enable collaborative working between all specialist areas of cardiology.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
- Advanced imaging sessions
- Outpatients clinics in chose area of specialist interest, e.g Heart Failure, ICC, ACHD
- Working collaboratively with other specialist cardiology teams.
- Support and expert advice to Trust wide MDT's such as Heart Failure and ICC.
- Audit and education
- In-patient duties - Team of the Week (TOW) consultant (1:12)
The post holder will be responsible for providing consultant support for Team of the Week, consultant delivered acute cardiology rota 1:12 frequency. All routine clinical activities are cancelled during TOW week.
The post will be predominantly based at Royal Sussex County Hospital site though the successful candidate could be expected to work within the entire UHSussex network.
ON CALL ROTA: 1:11 (currently weekends Friday - Sunday) Low frequency, Category B
