Job summary
The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, known locally as the 'Alex', is developing as the children's hospital for the South East Coast region. Opened in 2007, it is a purpose-built facility designed by children, with children, for children and has won several major awards.
It brings together paediatric services at UHSx and provides a first-class environment to continue to develop a broad range of specialised services for children and young people alongside more general services for our local population.
Some paediatric services are currently provided across other University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust sites, including at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, the Sussex Eye Hospital , Brighton General Hospital, Worthing Hospital and St Richard's Hospital, Chichester.
Current services in the Alex include:
- A day case unit
- An inpatient surgical unit
- A dedicated theatre suite
- An inpatient medical unit
- A critical care unit
- A children's emergency department
- A dedicated outpatient suite
- The Academic Department of Paediatrics and research suite
- A community paediatric nursing team
- A paediatric radiology suite
- A paediatric orthodontics and dentistry suite
- Paediatric dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy and physiotherapy
- A paediatric simulation suite
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Doctor to work in our stand-alone Children's Emergency Department from March and September 2024 to provide backfill for LTFT trainees..
Successful candidates will be responsible for the day-to-day care of patients in the Children's Emergency Department and adjoining Short Stay Unit.]
Full-time including participation in a full shift rota system
