We are looking to appoint to a full time substantive Cardiology/Electrophysiology post.
This is an exciting opportunity to recruit a dynamic colleague to the department in the context of excellent service development opportunities arising at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will join a team of 7 Cardiologists and 1 Specialist Grade doctor at Worthing in delivering a comprehensive outpatient and inpatient Cardiology service for patients from across the Trust.
Separate Cardiology On-call rota with no commitment to the G(I)M on-call rota.
We are seeking a dynamic Cardiologist with sub-specialty training in Electrophysiology and complex devices to help expand and develop the Electrophysiology service in the trust and contribute to the General Cardiology On-call rota at Worthing
Main duties of the job
There will be a regular commitment to outpatient activity including specialist heart rhythm clinics, comprising a mixture of both telephone and face to face clinics; online triaging of Cardiology referrals; reporting of requested investigations and Advice and Guidance responses to GP queries.
The cardiology team provides daily in-reach to the Emergency Floor where acute medical and surgical admissions are initially assessed and managed. As far as possible, the most appropriate patients from the Emergency Floor will be selected for transfer to the Cardiac Ward.
There will be 2 weekly sessions in the catheter lab for EP (AV node and cryo AF ablation) and pacing procedures at Worthing Hospital. There will be 2 sessions at the tertiary EP centre in Brighton for other EP procedures.
On call for cardiology (subject to change) 1:8 weekends (Friday-Sunday) at Worthing; fixed weekday alternate weeks; and additional proportional share of public holidays. No GIM on-call commitment.
Consultants review patients admitted under their care twice per week on morning ward rounds and have ongoing responsibility for their inpatient management and follow up when required.
