Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking and enthusiastic individual to join our pharmacy stores team.

Your duties will include:

  • Overseeing the receipt of all pharmaceuticals into the department
  • Accurately checking goods against official orders
  • Ensuring appropriate storage of all goods is maintained
  • Supervision and management of staff
  • Being responsible for stock rotation and expiry date management.

Excellent attention to detail, numeracy, literacy and IT skills, as well as previous experience of working in a busy stores or pharmacy goods in environment would be desirable for this role.

The job role will also be physically demanding, so a good level of fitness is required.

This is a challenging but rewarding role which requires someone that has the ability to work in a pressurised environment, using their own initiative and the ability to meet deadlines.We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent time management and prioritisation skills to undertake this role.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for receipt and storage of all pharmaceuticals entering the Pharmacy department and ensure their quality and accuracy.

Take remedial action and liaise with invoicing team and suppliers to rectify any problems with deliveries

Where necessary, to assist the ordering clerks with the processing of orders for pharmaceutical items.

To maintain all computer records and paperwork.

To assist in the investigation of invoicing discrepancies.

To be responsible for the training and supervision of trainees and qualified staff working within the stores area

You will be working with all members of the pharmacy team to provide an effective service including senior pharmacy technicians and assistants as well as forging close working relationships with the pharmacy ordering and invoicing team.

You will also form working relationships with delivery drivers and pharmaceutical suppliers

  • To assist the Clerical Officer in creating and/or processing orders on the Pharmacy stock control system
  • To assist with the placement of orders with suppliers via telephone, fax, mail or electronically.
  • To assist the Pharmacy Purchasing Manager in ascertaining the reason for non-supply of pharmaceuticals from suppliers and to source alternative suppliers if required.
  • To be responsible for, and to supervise all staff involved in receipt, custody and issue of all stores relating to the Pharmacy Department.
  • To receive incoming goods into the store in accordance with local guidelines and procedures.
  • To confirm quantities and types of goods received are correct against appropriate paperwork.
  • To enter receipt of goods onto Pharmacy computer system.
  • To ensure goods are stored under the appropriate conditions and stocks are rotated, including the use of pallet truck to move and store bulk fluids and pharmaceuticals.
  • To present goods in such a way as to provide efficient issue by Pharmacy staff.
  • To be responsible for ensuring areas of stock storage are maintained, i.e. date checking and tidying.
  • To ensure security and tidiness of the store at all times.
  • To assist with the daily stock checks and specified items.
  • To ensure return of incorrect goods to suppliers.
  • To assist with the issue of stocks for other departments and hospitals when required.
  • To review and update SOPs in consultation with the Pharmacy Purchasing Manager.
  • To be a robot super user and take action to correct robot issues when required
