Job summary
To manage and lead the team of BI Development Partners and BI Development Managers which support the clinical and corporate divisions, and the wider Business Intelligence team. Working in collaboration with senior stakeholders across the organisation to set the strategic and operational plans to deliver a holistic, integrated, and comprehensive Business Intelligence platform.
To develop and oversee the development of a sophisticated reporting infrastructure using Power BI, SSAS, SSIS and other reporting tools to ensure the wider BI team and organisation have tools, reporting and information which reduce manual overhead, duplication and ensure value-added analysis and service is possible.
Main duties of the job

Communication
- To work with all members of the senior teams both clinically and corporately to ensure Business Intelligence, and the Business Intelligence Development Partners provide a robust, responsive, proactive, and comprehensive service.
- To lead the Business Intelligence Development Partners to ensure the Divisional scorecards, planning and monitoring, modelling and wider busines intelligence provides and rich, sophisticated, and flexible platform by which the clinical divisions can manage their strategic and operational priorities, and by which corporate teams and senior managers can challenge and performance manage clinical teams. to a wide range of staffing as required where appropriate.
- To lead the Business Intelligence Development Partners such that the service and the team provides such that they are an integral part of the divisional management team, provide independent and objective insight and challenge into issues, and can flag and signpost the clinical divisional senior teams to current or impending issues across areas of business intelligence and operational challenges.
- To work closely with the Head of Corporate Information, Head of Operational Information and Head of Planning and Compliance to ensure the needs and priorities of the clinical divisions from a corporate perspective and conveyed and that BI is robust, clearly define and developed.
- To work closely with colleagues to ensure the BI development function is adequately briefed, supported, and guided by the Business Intelligence Development Partners to develop sophisticated reporting solutions such that the Business Intelligence Development Partners can provide value-added support and guidance to the divisions.
- To work closely with the Head of Planning and Compliance to ensure the annual planning process, in-year modelling, demand, and capacity analysis and any other predicative or simulative analysis meets the needs of the clinical divisions.
- Develop constructive working relationships with Divisional management and clinical teams to ensure that a performance focused culture where safety, quality and excellent patient care are consistently delivered though the provision of high-level analytical interpretation and modelling services.
- To clearly articulate and translate the methodology and output of complex analyses to staff at all levels and in various roles within the organisation.
- Provide an expert BI service to the clinical divisions and management teams to support a performance focused culture in line with the Trusts excellent care every time mission and Patient First approach, where safety, quality and excellent patient care are consistently delivered, supported by the provision of high-level analytical interpretation and modelling services.
Service Delivery and Improvement
- Use in-depth specialist knowledge of statistics and information analysis of both Trust, Divisional data, and comparative benchmark data from across the NHS to produce meaningful intelligence to support evidence-based decision making.
- To lead on, and be responsible for, through the Business Intelligence Development Partners, the timely and accurate availability of Divisional Board Reports including the SDR (Strategic Deployment Review), the Divisional Quality Scorecards, as part of the Trusts True North Objectives, monitoring progress against targets and identifying where improvements in the effective and efficient delivery of services can take place.
- Create and maintain a clear programme and timetable for the completion of all reporting whether dashboards, performance reporting or planning required by the Division as part of the Trust business cycle.
- Develop and deliver performance monitoring against national and local performance standards and develop reporting to ensure these standards are achieved and maintained.
- Maintain and develop dynamic activity, demand and capacity models that allow short- and long-term identification of service needs, exploring multiple scenarios based on performance and service improvement, with clear activity and associated capacity/workforce outputs. Work in collaboration with Divisional management teams to generate delivery strategies based on outcomes, and corporate Business Intelligence Development Partners to ensure triangulation with finance and workforce implications.
- Make, and support others in making highly complex business judgements involving facts or situations that require the analysis, interpretation, and comparison of a range of options (for example as part of development of business cases).
- To support the Project Management Office (PMO) service improvement and efficiency schemes by performance tracking for specific programmes.
