Job summary
To provide administrative and clinical support for the Occupational Therapy Rheumatology Team and to provide day to day administrative support for Occupational Therapy (OT) services to ensure smooth running of the department.
To assist the Band 4 OT Office Manager in providing a comprehensive range of administrative services to the OT Team as well as complete clinical tasks to support the delivery of the OT Service.
To liaise with other departments and services and to respond effectively to enquiries from the general public, service users, referrers and other agencies.
To consistently deliver a client focussed service which promotes good care and effective working relationships
Main duties of the job
To act as receptionist in the department to ensure a welcoming and efficient service is offered at all times to patients, relatives and other hospital staff.
To deal with all telephone enquiries, including retrieval of voicemail messages, in a professional, courteous and diplomatic manner and to ensure that appropriate messages are passed onto the relevant staff in an accurate and timely fashion, respecting confidentiality at all times.
To assist as far as practicable in non-clinical enquiries, ensuring all non-routine and clinical enquiries are referred onto the appropriate person.
Communicate effectively with patients especially those who have significant barriers to understanding such as cognitive, visual and hearing impairment, language barriers, learning disabilities and arranging support if required in line with trust guidelines.
