Paediatric Staff Nurse

Job summary

We are a busy outpatients department within a stand alone children's hospital. We have a variety of clinics running some of which are nurse led clinics.We are a small team in Children's Out patients working in a lovely environment amongst a big multi disciplinary team.

We open from 8 until 6 Monday to Friday.

Please note we also run some paediatric clinics at the Princess Royal hospital (Haywards Heath). This means you will at times be asked to cover a certain amount of clinics at this site.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of of the job will include -

  • Setting up the department ready for the day. Stocking up equipment, cleaning and helping to book patients in for specialist clinics.
  • Running the nurse led clinics (For example- Prolonged Jaundice, RSV injection clinic's and Skin Prick testing.)
  • Running other clinics which are not nurse led (For example- fracture clinic, diabetic clinic, respiratory clinics and dermatology clinics just to name a few.)
  • Supporting our Health care assistants and Student nurses whilst on shift.
  • In the absence of a senior nurse you will be taking charge of the department and running the shift.

About us

Outpatients is a small friendly team. The team consists of nurses and health care assistants. The department can be fast paced with numerous clinics running alongside one another.

RACH is a great place to work and due to it being a stand alone hospital with the Sussex county grounds, most of the staff are familiar the other departments and staff. This makes for a friendly and supportive environment to work in.
