There is a vacancy for a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine based at Worthing Hospital. This is a permanent positions and is available as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job
A middle grade establishment of experienced doctors is in place to provide a permanent core of Emergency Medicine trained doctors within the department. The core team consists of 9 middle grade doctors, 7 consultants as well as nurse specialists. This team supports the training and development of 10 F2/ ST1/ST3/ ACCS Junior Doctors during their period of working in A&E.
Duties will involve:
- Care of patients on the observation wards or CDU as required.
- Referral of patients to appropriate in-patient facilities as appropriate.
- Care of critically ill patients and resuscitation of patients in Accident and Emergency.
- Trauma team leader (with the appropriate training provided if necessary)
- Supervision of trainees.
- Involvement in Accident and Emergency multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.
- Involvement in patient flow management.
- Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and nursing staff.
- Involvement in relevant administration duties
- Active involvement in audit and the development of departmental policies.
- Play an active role in the day to day management and administration of the Accident and Emergency department
- Participate fully in Middle Grade teaching
