An exciting opportunity for a Security and Car Parking Manager at UHSussex has become available.
An integral part of the Facilities and Estates management team reporting into the Associate Director of Facilities, the Security and Car Parking Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Trust staff, patients and visitors and sites and the effective management of hospital car parks and traffic routes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake a range of managerial tasks to ensure the management and improvement of the Security and Car Parking services at UHSussex sites of RSCH, LMB and PRH.
This role will include the effective management of the Trusts Security and Car parking services, leading the development and implementation of the Trust's security and car parking strategies and provide professional leadership in these specialist areas.

Communication
- The role requires enhanced liaison and collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and therefore the post holder must be a strong, articulate and confident communicator often needing to cascade information of a complex nature
- Establish and convene appropriate meetings with the security and car parking service users to ensure service standards are being maintained and delivered in accordance with agreed key performance indicators
- Provide expert Security Management Specialist advice, leadership, guidance and support in all aspects of security and car parking management to the Trust at all levels and across all sites
- To attend and contribute as required to Divisional Facilities and Estates meetings and Management Briefings
- Develop staff communication systems including Steering Groups, Notice Boards and ensure Security and Car Parking staff representation to ensure involvement throughout each development and element of work
- Liaise and negotiate with nominated officers for all external contracts on a regular basis to ensure compliance with service specification and customer satisfaction. This will involve differing degrees of complexity pertaining to contract and pricing reviews and changes to the specification
- To work as the Security Manager with the Group Head of Security in accordance with the Secretary of State Directions to health bodies on measures to tackle violence and general security management measures
- Liaise with Police with regard to crimes committed and assist where necessary some of which could be of a complex nature
- Liaise and work collaboratively with the Police with regard to crime prevention measures to mitigate risk
- Dealing with Security and Car parking Service complaints and issues.
Risk Management
- To be responsible for and conduct Risk Assessments across the whole Trust to ensure compliance with safety issues in relation to Security and Car Parking to maintain appropriate records for inspection
- Be aware of the Trusts risk management strategy and policies.
- Support the departmental managers in promoting a risk management culture within your working environment, ensuring participation and involvement when requested.
- Identify potential risks that may impact on the Trusts ability to achieve its objectives, and report concerns to the line manager.
- Health and Safety is the responsibility of all staff and the post holder is required to take due care at work, report any accidents or untoward occurrences and comply with the Trust Health & Safety Policy in order that it can fulfil its Health and Safety responsibilities.

- To be responsible for and conduct Risk Assessments across the whole Trust to ensure compliance with safety issues in relation to security and Car Parking and to maintain appropriate records for inspection
Service Delivery and Improvement
- To actively manage the Security and Car Parking service in accordance with Trust policies and procedures
- To manage and maintain a cost effective service to maximise all available resources in the provision of this
- Will be responsible for, and where appropriate, hold relevant licences for managing and running a Trust based Security service
- To ensure that all NHS security management work is carried out within a professional and ethical framework.

- Develop, implement and maintain robust Policy, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and procedures that underpin the Security and Car parking services.

- Responsible for the management and monitoring of a delegated budget and financial planning within the cost model set by the Division and the Trust, meeting set CIP targets. Ensures full compliance with the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions
- Maintains appropriate records regarding activity, stocks and equipment including an annual stock-take to be held at the end of each Financial Year
- Maintains records of equipment that are needed for input into costing, budgeting and monitoring performance of the security service
- To develop and maintain a quality monitoring reporting system to ensure the highest possible standards are maintained at all times
