Job summary
The haematology team of and other health professionals who are employed through University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust but working across the county providing clinical and medical haematology care to the Brighton and Haywards Heath areas.
In Sussex we pride ourselves as having a team of supportive clinicians who work closely and well together. As a consultant body, we have a protected session every week for governance and educational meetings ensuring as much as possible that the team are brought together for mutual support, mentoring, education and peer review as well as discussing challenging cases.
Main duties of the job
This a replacement post for one of our existing registrars, who will be taking up a clinical research post. There are two specialist registrars who rotate between ward / day unit cover, and laboratory / outpatient clinic commitments. The ward registrar is also supported by an F1, two CMT1, and also a designated ward attending Consultant of the week. The responsibilities for the ward SpR include 2 consultant ward rounds each week, with three independent ward rounds on the other days. Responsibilities also include a bone marrow list, once trained up to competency, as well as day unit cover.
The outpatient registrar attends a myeloma and lymphoma clinic on a weekly basis, as a well undertaking as a bone marrow list (once trained up to competency) and laboratory responsibilities to include bone marrow and peripheral blood smear reporting, alongside supervising Consultant's. The post is banded at 1A, with concordant on call commitment.
