This is an exciting opportunity to work with the wider team at UHSussex to develop the existing musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy service.
To provide overall professional leadership and line management to outpatient Physiotherapy staff and be responsible for the delivery of outpatient Physiotherapy services.
To work jointly with the Head of Physiotherapy for Inpatients at UHS sites and with head of physiotherapy for Worthing outpatients.
There are significant changes happening both within the service and in Sussex, and the successful applicant will be part of moulding and influencing the service as it goes forward. You will be responsible and accountable for operational and clinical management and delivery of the musculoskeletal outpatient service within Brighton and Hove. In conjunction with the departmental management team, you will contribute to strategic planning and development of the MSK physiotherapy service across the whole organisation, working with colleagues in the West of the UHSussex patch.
The MSK physiotherapy service has faced some significant internal challenges over the last two years and is currently in a rebuilding phase, seeking to move forward as part of a merged Trust. The post holder will benefit from having experience in managing service performance, governance structures, demand/capacity and equality issues whilst having demonstrable excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
The MSK physiotherapy service operates from four locality sites within Brighton, Hove and Haywards Heath. Offering rehabilitation services to local populations rich in cultural diversity, we are committed to delivering a service that is relevant to the communities we serve and strive to promote opportunity for all.
This post will be based at one of our UHSussex Brighton sites. Flexibility may be required to work across other UHSussex sites should future service developments require this. The post holder will carry their own clinical caseload and be responsible and accountable for operational and clinical management and delivery of the Musculoskeletal outpatient service within Brighton and Hove. In conjunction with the departmental management team, they will contribute to strategic planning and development of the MSK physiotherapy service across the whole organisation .
Working with others across sites to drive service development, improve service performance, as well as maintaining high clinical standards and governance within the team.

To provide a clear point of contact for Physiotherapy in UHS East for external stakeholders.
To provide leadership support and collaborate with Physiotherapy out patient service UHS West.
A member of the Therapy Senior Management Team supporting the development, vision and strategic way forward for Therapy services.
Continue to foster and develop close and purposeful relationships with all AHP heads of service and AHP colleagues in the community and strategic commissioners.
Responsible for the strategic planning and delivery of Physiotherapy Services that are evidence based, flexible and patient-centred, to meet the health and social care needs of people referred to the service.
To achieve the integration and harmonisation of outpatient Physiotherapy teams across hospital sites and the continued development of appropriate best practice pathways and consistency in care pathways.
To allocate resources appropriately in response to demand for services To be responsible for the ongoing development of a high quality Physiotherapy service through the professional and Trusts governance framework and ongoing service redesign.
To ensure a combined and consistent range of operational and clinical performance measures and quality outcomes are in place across Physiotherapy.
To set and achieve objectives and priorities for the Outpatient Physiotherapy service in line with corporate Trust objectives and to participate in the implementation of overall Therapy and Trust objectives.
To act as a key link for Outpatient Physiotherapy with partner organisations to continue the development of integrated working.
Lead in the business planning process for outpatient Physiotherapy, working with other Physiotherapy Leads in the Trust to ensure training and development needs are met.
Identify efficiency savings and innovation.
