Clinical Fellows in Acute Oncology and GI Oncology FY2 level or above
We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Clinical Fellows to support the clinical work in our oncology department. These roles consist of a GI clinical fellow and Acute Oncology/ Melanoma/IO (Immunotherapy) Clinical Fellow.
Applications are invited from qualified medical practitioners at FY2 level or above who can demonstrate an interest in acute oncology and GI oncology.
These posts will be commencing in August 2023. The post holder will be based at the Sussex Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and as per need to other trust sites. The post holders will provide clinical cover in accordance with their level of clinical competency.
Main duties of the job
This advert is for a full or part time FY3 and above level doctor with previous experiencing within the NHS to join the Sussex Oncology team and provide non-surgical oncological care at UHS.
This post has become available because of the expansion of the Acute Oncology. The post holder will be a member of the team providing outpatient and inpatient support, including acute oncology assessments (on wards and in EACU) and review of patients attending for chemotherapy and radiotherapy as well as part of the immunotherapy toxicity service. There will also be opportunities to work in oncology outpatient clinics. The candidate will be fully supported to complete a project during their post suitable for their CV and potentially for presentation locally and/or nationally (more details below). There is also the opportunity to lead medical student teaching. There will be supervision from the on call consultant (weekly rota) and site-specialist oncologists. All the specialty medicine departments have a strong ethos in support, training, education and service improvement. The post is Monday to Friday 9am-5pm with no on call commitments.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST
The appointee must hold a licence to practice and be fully registered with the General Medical Council.
- Evidence of the right to take paid employment in the UK
- Occupational Health clearance including medical examination if required
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance
- Leave must be applied for at least 6 weeks in advance and approved by the Clinical Lead.
- You will be paid in accordance with the Terms and Conditions Medical Staff.
- The Trust expects all Medical and Dental staff to work within the guidelines of the GMC Guide to Good Medical Practice which can be viewed on the GMC website www.gmc-uk.org.
