University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity to join the Speech and Language Therapy inpatient team at Worthing Hospital. This position will support inpatient care for patients with acquired communication disorders and dysphagia. Speech and Language Therapy forms part of the wider Therapies Directorate within the division of Clinical Support Services.
Main duties of the job
To act as clinical lead and provide supervision and support for junior Speech and Language Therapists within the inpatient service.
The role will provide opportunities to further develop specialist Speech and Language Therapy skills in the management of critical care patients as well as instrumental assessment of swallowing in our weekly Videofluoroscopy service. You will be part of the acute inpatient team supporting input to patients across Medicine, Surgery, Womens and Childrens, Critical Care and the Department of Medicine for the Elderly (DOME).
To hold personal clinical caseload providing highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy intervention for inpatients, ensuring timely reports and onward referral to community health partners, e.g. SCFT, SPFT.
If you enjoy the busy working environment of the acute hospital setting and are passionate about patient care then this post may be for you. You will have at least four years clinical experience of managing acute communication and swallowing disorders. Previous experiences and clinical competencies of critical care working would be preferred.
