An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new or experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist or Osteopath to join our Musculoskeletal Outpatient Team.

The successful candidate will join our musculoskeletal rotation within one of our UHS Musculoskeletal Outpatient sites in Brighton & Hove including Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton General Hospital, and Hove Polyclinic, or The Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Health.

The post would include participation in the Orthopaedic Weekend Rota - following completion of appropriate training.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage a mixed Musculoskeletal caseload which may include Orthopaedic patients, and patients with both Acute and Chronic MSK issues. This is currently expected to be managed in a Hybrid format including face-to-face, video and telephone contacts.

In additional to the clinical aspect of the job there is a requirement to develop management skills, teach and supervise junior staff, assistants and students.
The post would include participation in the Orthopaedic Weekend Rota following completion of appropriate training (Qualified Physiotherapist only, this does not apply to Osteopaths).
The service is committed to professional development, and post graduate education is facilitated through an established appraisal, mentoring scheme and in-service training programme.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- As an autonomous practitioner, to assess and treat a caseload of outpatients, who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, and to determine a diagnosis and develop treatment programmes without direct supervision from Senior Staff.
- To support Band 7 and Clinical Team Leaders in outpatient staff in the planning and organisation of the physiotherapy team activities and programmes.
- To be responsible for teaching, supervision and appraisal of recently qualified physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and undergraduate students.
- To undertake evidence-based practice and participate in departmental research and audit.
- To adhere to Departmental protocols, Trust policies and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Code of Conduct or the General Osteopathic Councils Osteopathic Practice Standards, and National Standards where they exist.
- To actively promote and develop equality and diversity practices and strategic management in this area in order to promote equity of access of care for patients and equity of access to job opportunities and development opportunities for staff.
