The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton is part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. We provide acute services to the people of Brighton and Hove, Mid Sussex and more specialists and tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the south coast of England, including being one of the Major Trauma Units along the South East Coast. We are also just about to move some services into the band new Louisa Martindale Building,
Here at RSCH we have a very forward thinking major trauma MDT. We work very closely with our highly skilled Major trauma ACPS and Trauma Practitioners. We have excellent links with our plastics, Spinal/Neuro surgery; Orthopaedics and Critical care Teams, and expect our Therapy staff to support developing and promoting seamless patient centred care.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible and experienced physiotherapist to join and Lead our well established holistic Major Trauma, vascular and Orthpaedic Physiotherapy Inpatient service.
We are looking for a dynamic and innovative clinician who has substantial post-graduate experience, at Band 7 or an established B8a level including acute major trauma, Orthopaedics and Neuro sciences within the NHS setting. Candidates need to have experience and a genuine interest in the assessment and treatment of acute major trauma patients including spinal fractures, spinal cord injuries, vascular injuries, head injuries, limb reconstruction and poly trauma patients.
Main duties of the job
- solely responsible and accountable for the operational management of the Major Trauma, Vascular and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team by undertaking a clinical team leader role in planning, co-coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Major Trauma, Vascular and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Service on a day-to-day basis.
- Provide professional clinical leadership as an advanced practitioner within the field of Major Trauma, Vascular and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team, working to a highly specialist level in critical care, neurology and orthopaedic trauma.
- Working as an autonomous practitioner, to carry a high clinical caseload of highly complex patients providing specialist assessment and treatment within the Major Trauma, Vascular and Orthopaedic Team.
- Work in collaboration with Physiotherapists on Critical Care Neuro and Orthopaedics to ensure best practise is provided to all patients on the Major Trauma, Vascular and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy pathway including outliers. This includes the use of advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide highly specialist support to medical staff and other health professions.
