Job summary

We welcome applications from pharmacy technicians from all healthcare settings such as hospital and community pharmacies or GP practices. All training will be provided and no previous experience in clinical trials is required.

The post provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in a specialised area covering clinical trials.

We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician with an interest in clinical trials. The successful applicant will be highly motivated with excellent communication skills and the ability to organise and plan their work. You must be a team player and able to work with a variety of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To manage the day-to-day running of the RSCH pharmacy clinical trials service with the Specialist Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician
  • Ensure the safe and secure handling of clinical trial drugs, including receipt, storage, return and/or destruction
  • Prepare clear and accurate written trial-specific procedures for handling clinical trial drugs according to the study protocol
  • Assist sponsor personnel during site monitoring visits and action follow-up queries

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure the day-to-day running of the RSCH pharmacy clinical trials service by working with the Specialist Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician - Operational Manager.
  • Prepare (and update as required) clear and accurate written trial specific procedures for handling clinical trial drugs in accordance with International Conference for Harmonisation for Good Clinical Practice( ICH-GCP) and each study's protocol.
  • Ensure the safe and secure handling of clinical trial drugs, including receipt, storage, return and/or destruction and ensure that there is a necessary documented audit trail for each study, in accordance with all legal requirements and protocol.
  • Assist sponsor personnel during site monitoring visits and action follow up queries in a timely manner.
