Job summary

We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.

Our 3 frailty wards offer fantastic opportunities within Frailty care. We have short stay, frailty care and a ward specialising in specialist dementia care.

All our frailty wards will be in the new Louisa Martindale Building opening soon. We are moving into new spacious wards with side rooms and bays having amazing views of the sea and Downs, allowing the best environment to care for our older patients.

Out Multi Disciplinary Teams are amazing, drawing on their skills , knowledge and expertise to give the best care possible. Many of our patients are within their last 1000 days and it is a privilege to care for them and their families. This special time offers valuable moments to give compassionate care, that is person centred and focused on the best outcomes encompassing quality of life and comfort.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include providing holistic, person centred care. Working within your abilities and competence but developing your skills through training and development to enhance your car.

You will be able to:

  1. Prioritise care and delegates workload and ward activities appropriately to HCA's and other staff; may be required to take charge of the ward on an ad hoc basis
  2. Effectively and professionally deals with emergency situations
  3. Adhere to local and National policies and guidelines
  4. Contribute and actively participate in correct reporting and handling of incidents and accidents.
  5. Identify and report malfunctioning equipment and takes necessary action
  6. Ensure adequate ward stock levels are maintained
  7. Process patient property and valuables in accordance with UHSussex
