Job summary
UH Sussex (West) Cancer Services have been successful in being awarded some funding from The Sussex and Surrey Cancer Alliance to run a 1 year pilot offering a 4 week programme of exercise and education to cancer patients who are referred to have IV chemotherapy as part of their treatment plan.
We are looking for a band 3 or dependant on experience a band 4 to assist the Rehabilitation Team to plan and deliver a flexible, patient centred programme of therapeutic activities, exercises and interventions for patients referred to the Prehab and Rehabilitation Programme and to meet the health, social and wellbeing needs of those patients.

Worthing Hospital is in a wonderful location, situated adjacent to the South Downs National Park, the beautiful historical city of Worthing, the sea and with excellent transport links to London and across Southern England.

Job responsibilities
- Provides a specialist clinical service to clients with rehab needs. Supervision will be provided by the senior therapists but there is a large element of independent work and responsibility.
- To co-ordinate and carry out administrative tasks during patient journey through the programmes
- To deliver individual and group sessions of exercise therapy and lifestyle and wellbeing management.
- To closely monitor patients, adapting interventions and programmes according to their individual needs, especially those with multiple pathologies.
- To assess and prescribe interventions where appropriate such as ongoing exercise or equipment to aid daily living.
- To support Senior Physiotherapist.
- To work as a member of the MDT to provide a quality service.
- Regular liaison with Senior Physiotherapist but there is a large element of independent work and responsibility.
- To maintain statistical database and partake in statistical review of the service.
- To be involved in the support, supervision and training for students on practice placement and other staff

- Ability to participate in warm up, cool down, demonstration of exercises, basic manual handling and moving equipment
Qualifications
Essential
- Knowledge acquired through in-house training, short course and experience to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
Desirable
- Degree in Sports Science or equivalent sports related degree
- Any other L3 or L4 REPS accredited course e.g. in cardiac, pulmonary, cancer rehab etc
- Previous Band 3 Therapy experience

- Good understanding and experience of working with clients with a variety of health issues.
- Awareness of Health and Safety in an exercise environment.
