Job summary

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) are offering an exciting opportunity for caring, compassionate members of the community to become Community Resilience Support Volunteers. We are setting up a dedicated group Community Resilience Support Volunteers to play a key role in supporting the Trust our colleagues, volunteers and the communities we serve.

SECAmb provides services across Surrey, Sussex and Kent and employs more than 4000 staff across an area covering 3,600 square miles and a population of approximately 4.9 million; we handle in excess of 800,000 calls every year. We aspire to be a patient-centred, high-performing, efficient and clinically led organisation that provides services to meet the needs of our patients and public, today, and tomorrow.

We are supported by over 400 Volunteers in patient facing and support roles and are launching four dedicated support vehicles, crewed by our Volunteers to supply support and welfare to our colleagues paid or voluntary.

Main duties of the job

You will crew or drive one of the Trusts Welfare Support Vehicles to either a prebooked event supporting the Trusts public engagement or deploying to any location directed by the Community Resilience On call Manager in times of significant demand on the service. To supply Welfare facilities to all colleagues at that location.

Ensuring the allocated vehicle is clean and serviceable and stocked before each deployment, carrying out all pre and post driving checks and reporting any defects immediately.

Assist and support with the Trusts Community Engagement promotional activities, attending public events as agreed with the Community Resilience Department to promote the work of the Trust and its Volunteers.

Assist with recruitment of new volunteers as this may include the co-ordination of recruitment open evenings or interview days

Support your local Volunteer Team, with their requests while attend team meetings and remain engaged and up-to-date with team activity.

    Applicants must:

    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Have a valid UK full driving license for B class vehicles held for at least one year with no more than 3 penalty points
    • Have access to a vehicle with current tax, MOT and insurance for their use when volunteering.
    • Be able to attend monthly activities within your local area and online statutory and mandatory training.
    • Commit to a minimum term of volunteering of 2 years.
