Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Research Nurse or Practitioner to join our friendly and dynamic research and knowledge team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

The Clinical Research Nurse/Practitioner will help promote the studies in the portfolio, identify, consent and recruit eligible service users and carers to a range of NIHR research studies. They will be responsible for collecting trial-specific baseline data and follow-up data and maintenance of the investigator site file.

The post holder will take responsibility for accurate data collection and maintenance of databases and computerised systems. They will manage the participant's pathway in the study and manage the allocated studies from set-up to completion according to the study protocol and in line with GCP guidelines. This will involve close liaison with mental health, social care and primary care services including both psychiatric units and community settings.

Working alongside the Senior Clinical Research Nurse, the post holder will contribute towards the collaborative research endeavour by working with researchers and wider stakeholders on a range of projects, recruiting participants and helping to support and engage them in the research.

Although based at Memorial Hospital, this is predominantly a cross-site role. Ability and willingness to travel across all trust and some external sites in a timely way is essential. Access to own means of transport would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

  • As a key member of the R&K team, they will be responsible for the provision of robust operational support in all aspects of clinical trials administration according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, local standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other relevant Oxleas policies.
  • Be responsible for their own personal and professional development, ensuring that all relevant skills and training (e.g., GCP) remain updated to carry out all job-related responsibilities.
  • Help to advertise the studies in the portfolio, identify and recruit service users and carers who are eligible to take part in a range of research projects.
  • Responsible for collecting trial-specific baseline data and follow up data and maintenance of the investigator site file.
  • Recruit patients to observational studies and clinical Trials and participate in the follow-up and completion of relevant trial-specific paperwork.
  • Ensure that patients' care and treatment, assessments, follow-up and data collection are conducted according to the study protocol and in line with GCP guidelines. This will involve close liaison with mental health, social care and primary care services including both psychiatric units and community settings.
  • Scan the NIHR Research Portfolio for new suitable studies Oxleas can host and liaise with clinical teams for feasibility assessments for the studies.
