Job summary

District Nursing Sister, Band 6 Greenwich DN Teams Permanent; Full Time - 37.5 hrs per week

We are seeking to appoint an innovative Community District Nursing Sister/Charge Nurse. You must hold the District Nurse Specialist Practitioner Qualification. You will manage a District Nursing team within the Greenwich Directorate of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidates will be part of a progressive and supportive team located in South East London. Our District Nursing Service delivers care to a diverse population across the borough of Greenwich.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious, adaptable manager and team player with highly developed nursing skills.

You must be able to work on your own initiative. Previous clinical team management experience is essential.

In our district nursing teams, due to the requirement to be able to travel between patients' homes in a timely manner, a full UK driver's licence is essential as well as access to a car for work purposes.

You will be committed to the development of the team through effective leadership and be given the opportunity to develop your own clinical skills through the delivery of a wide range of evidence based care and an active personal development plan.

These posts are not suitable for RMN or Learning Disability nurses.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead a team of nurses and support staff with the responsibility of managing the care for a defined caseload.

Community Nurses work as part of a team delivering high quality evidence based nursing care to clients within their own home, residential homes and clinical environments. As part of a District Nursing team you will have a role placing emphasis on prevention and rehabilitation as well as curative and palliative care.

The post holder is an autonomous practitioner and will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and also participate in the training of patients, relatives, carers, students and other health care professionals
