Due to further expansion of Bexley Mental Health Support Team we are excited to be recruiting an additional supervising practitioner to join our existing well established team.
Mental Health Support Teams are part of a National initiative aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within primary and secondary schools.
Bexley MHST work in collaboration with education settings supporting a whole-system approach to promoting good mental health and wellbeing. Offering evidence based early intervention, signposting and supporting a whole school approach based on education settings individual needs and working together with existing services, e.g. counselling, educational psychology, school nurses, pastoral care, educational welfare officers, public health, the local authority, including children's social care, and NHS CAMHS services to support children and young people to thrive.
Main duties of the job
The MHST supervising practitioner will support the delivery & supervision of targeted CBT informed early interventions, ensuring that a wide range of evidence-based interventions are used to support young people's mental health and wellbeing. The post holder will also provide leadership within the team focused on service delivery - providing a high quality, safe and responsive mental health service to children, young people, parents/carers and professionals in accordance with Children and Young People's IAPT principles and in partnership with service users and partner agencies, working as part of a multi-agency system.
We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about mental health support in schools, with a demonstrated track record of CAMHS clinical and leadership experience. You will have experience of supervising clinicians and be able to evidence clinical leadership skills and abilities. You will be a CAMHS professional and registered with a professional body (i.e. nurse, social worker, OT, psychology. psychotherapy).
