Staff Nurse, Band 5 Permanent - Full Time - 37.5 per hours per week

Woodlands Unit - Queen Marys Hospital, Sidcup

Holbrook Ward is an acute dementia inpatient ward run by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust providing care for people who are living with Dementia and experiencing distress.

We are looking for a registered mental health nurse who can demonstrate a commitment to recognizing individuality and is able to work hard to ensure that patient's quality of life is enhanced. You must be able to demonstrate effective communication, a passion for working with people living with Dementia and an understanding of the principles of person-centred care.

We welcome applications from staff that are already on the NMC register with relevant experience and also newly qualified staff, who will be able to undergo the preceptorship programme with support.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will be involved in the delivery of care and therapy for our service users in many unique ways. You need to be a passionate role model in delivering care as well as keen to develop and build on your management and leadership skills.

A shift rota system operates, including weekends and night work.

You will receive staff induction, in-house training and personal development reviews.

You will receive support and frequent supervision to help develop within this team.

Main duties of the job

As a Registered Nurse you provide direct personal care to service users/patients, without direct supervision, and co-ordinate the care given bycolleagues.The post holder will deliver high quality safe nursing care, ensuringconsistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence which complywith the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct.The role includes leading the delivery of comprehensive service userassessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of person-centeredcare in a collaborative way.

The post holder will co-ordinate a first classservice that includes assessment and monitoring of physical health,maintaining service users rights, supervising junior staff and students, working collaboratively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team and maintaining a safe and therapeutic working environment and accurate records.

Band 5 nursing roles are only open only to staff with a nursing registration, obtained as a result of completing a qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
