This is a substantive Consultant post in Community Paediatrics, for the post including the Lead for Neurodisability, due to the current post holder retiring.
Greenwich Community Paediatric Services is part of the Children and Young People Directorate (CYPD). The Consultant will be part of a team of 5.0 WTE Consultants, 1 WTE Locum Consultant, 5.0 WTE Specialty Grade (SAS) doctors, 0.4 WTE Clinical Psychologist and 1 WTE Specialty Higher Trainee.
We are offering a retention incentive in addition to the salary and London weighting. Because we want to recruit the very best team, we are offering external new starters a retention incentive of £5,000 when they start and commit to working with us for one year. Beyond that, a further £5,000 will be paid if a commitment is made to remain in post for a further two years. Any payment made will be on a pro rata basis for part time appointments.
Main duties of the job
The consultant will provide a high level of clinical expertise and leadership, both for the team for which they are responsible and in borough-wide services.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (further on JD)
- To provide assessment and case management of children and young people with complex neuro-disability and special needs. The Consultant has overall responsibility for their own caseload, which may have children from across the borough.
- To supervise and teach Specialty Grade Paediatricians (SAS) and Specialty Trainees carrying out assessment and management of children with complex needs.
- Provide clinical input to multi-disciplinary clinics/meetings for the assessment of children with complex disability and special needs.
- Provide medical advice to Local Authority Children's Services according to statutory legislation and guidance for Looked after Children. Clinical work may be carried out by the Speciality Doctors but children with complex Neurodisability remain on the Consultant caseload and they will have overall responsibility.
