Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Community COPD Team to provide care for patients diagnosed with COPD living in the borough of Greenwich.
This post will work as a part of a large multi-disciplinary team, including nurses, physiotherapists, a dietitian, clinical psychologist and administrators, to meet the needs of patients referred to the COPD Team, ensuring the highest possible standards of practice.
This post will involve assisting the physiotherapists to deliver pulmonary rehabilitation classes in community venues in the borough.
Main duties of the job
- To complete physical health observations, such as oxygen saturations, weight, temperature and blood pressure.
- To complete home risk assessment for prospective oxygen patients.
- Picking up of microscopy samples and dropping to a designated collection point.
- Using RIO (electronic system) to record and retrieve information on service users.
- Undertaking word processing for the provision of required reports, letters, summaries, etc. within the set standards.
- Respond to incoming calls and deal with enquiries in accordance with management procedures. Record all messages accurately ensuring appropriate action is taken and messages passed to the relevant discipline/clinician. Use initiative in finding appropriate clinician for advice if required staff member is absent.
- Undertake administrative duties to support clinicians.
- Undertaking an assistant role in Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes to support clinicians. Be able to supervise patients with a range of co-morbidities and physical health challenges during the classes under the supervision and guidance of the physiotherapist.
- Understand the importance of exercise within COPD management and facilitate patient engagement at Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes.
- Booking of appointments and maintaining clinicians' RiO diaries.
- Maintaining a database of team equipment and liaising with contractor for servicing.
