Occupational Therapist, Band 5 Permanent - Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary ward team which is professionally supported by a Head OT. There is a mix of banded occupational therapists across the acute and crisis mental health service, as well as other professions. It is a friendly and supportive team and we welcome new staff and the ideas and skills they bring.
The post involves a mix of opportunities including carrying an inpatient caseload, assessments and 1:1 interventions to build functional and social skills. Working closely with the ward Multi-disciplinary Team, the outpatient MDT (Home Treatment and Community Teams) and group interventions. It provides an excellent mix of opportunities to develop your career.
CPD for Band 5 occupational therapy staff includes a statutory induction programme, preceptorship programme, support group and in-service occupational therapy specific training days. There is an active CPD programme which includes regular professional supervision and appraisals, dedicated CPD time and involvement in research projects. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working in the Bromley acute mental health Inpatient Service, with the OT inpatient team. The department is part of the multidisciplinary team serving the adult, acute, inpatient wards of Betts, Goddington and Norman. These are 15-18 bedded acute admission wards. The OT team deliver an activity programme, incorporating three major areas of importance: Health and Well Being, Psychological Therapies and Vocational/Return to Work activity.
This Band 5 post will work autonomously, with monthly supervision, to provide occupational therapy.
The service provided will be strongly influenced by social inclusion and vocational rehabilitation.
The aim of the service is to assess and promote occupational functioning and wellbeing on the wards. The post holder will also facilitate safe and effective discharges and link into appropriate community services.
