Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Oxleas as a Specialty Doctor in this new post in our friendly, forward looking CAMHS service which is based with the Greenwich community multi-disciplinary out-patient CAMH service at Highpoint House, Shooters, Hill, London SE18. You will work within our Learning Disability/Neurodevelopmental Team which provides a proactive community service for children and young people with severe behavioural disturbances associated with significant learning disability ASD or ADHD.

The team is headed by the team manager, consultant psychiatrist and senior lead professionals. The post-holder will provide a local service that will include consultation, assessment, diagnosis and treatment to children, young people and their families. The Specialty Doctor will be expected to take an active role in the further development of the services.

Main duties of the job

As a specialty doctor in Greenwich CAMHS you will manage a complex caseload, working as care coordinator within a multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologist, child psychotherapists, nurses, family therapists, occupational therapists, social workers and art therapists. There is a strong emphasis on the development and maintenance of relationships with other agencies including schools, educational support services, social services and voluntary agencies working with young people in Greenwich. You will also provide specialist advice and support to professional colleagues both internal and external to the Trust. You will have allocated SPA time for CPD and will contribute to a day time CAMHS emergency rota.

You will have post registration experience within a mental health setting; some of this time will have been working within a child and adolescent mental health service. You will have excellent therapeutic skills and be able to be responsive and flexible in working with young people.
