Occupational Therapist, Band 5 Permanent - Full Time: 37.50 hours per week

In-Patient Mental Health Service - Acute and Crisis Services Directorate

Millbrook Ward, Woodlands Unit, Queen Marys Hospital

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary ward team, which is professionally supported by a Senior OT. There is a mix of band 3, band 5, and band 6 Occupational Therapy staff across the acute and crisis mental health service. It is a friendly and supportive team and we welcome new staff and the ideas and skills they bring.

This post provides an excellent mix of opportunities to develop your occupational therapy career. The aim of the service is to assess and promote occupational functioning and wellbeing on the wards. The post holder will also facilitate safe and effective discharges, collaborating with community colleagues, family and third sector organisations, such as MIND.

Working hours 37.5 hours. Usual work pattern 9am-5pm

Please note that the trust operates a Probationary period

Main duties of the job

The post involves occupational therapy specific work with a mix of opportunities including:

  • Carrying an inpatient caseload, including doing assessments and 1:1 interventions to build functional and social skills.
  • Working closely with the ward Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) and the outpatient MDT (Home Treatment and Community Mental Health Teams)
  • Group interventions.
  • Promoting social inclusion and community connections
