Older Peoples Mental Health Liaison Nurse, Band 6

Permanent - Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

We have a vacancy for a band 6 Mental Health Liaison Nurse in the older adult's mental health liaison team. We are based in the Queen Elizabeth hospital and provide support for patients in the emergency department and on the inpatient wards.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic, proactive and caring team. The post is for a full time post working five days a week and entails working shifts on a rota basis, Monday to Friday 8am-4pm. 9-5 or 12 - 8 pm and 9-5 on weekends.

The successful applicant will have an understanding of the nature and impact of mental health issues particular in relation to older people. You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and work proactively and flexibly within the team. You will need to be skilled in mental health assessments and have a clear understanding of assessing and managing risk.

You will need to have experience as a qualified mental health nurse and experience of working with older adults would be an advantage but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Mental Health Assessment and reviews ofolder people who are inpatients in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital or who attend the Emergency Department

The team comprises of 4.5 band 6 RMNs and a band 6 OT. We have a Consultant Psychiatrist for two days a week and a Specialist registrar for 5 days a week. Although we are an Oxleas team we work hand in hand with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS to provide an excellent service for older adults in their care.
