Band 8a - Highly Specialist Adult Psychotherapist / Art Psychotherapist Supervisor
To provide a qualified highly specialised psychotherapy supervision service to members of the Woman's Service team. To provide highly specialist expertise in psychodynamic or integrative psychotherapy for survivors of historic child sexual abuse and to provide supervision of this within the team of The Woman's Service.
To offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to colleagues in team meetings and supervision and to stand in for them in their absence at team meetings and other forums. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. When required to utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development.
Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist supervision of clients referred to WS based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including clinical case notes, questionnaires, psychological assessments.
To be responsible for implementing a range of highly specialist supervisory inputs across the WS team. Some of these interventions might need to be delivered remotely and online.
To exercise autonomous professional supervisory responsibility for treatment of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
To assist the lead psychotherapists of the service with the management of the waiting list which involves engaging in case discussions in the team, and allocation of cases as appropriate.
To provide professional and clinical supervision to trainee and honorary psychotherapists in the Woman's Service team
To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the team's operational policies and services, through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit.
To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
To contribute to audit and service evaluation, with colleagues within the service to help develop service provision.

Clinical:

To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual or group.
To exercise autonomous professional supervisory responsibility for treatment of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
To provide highly specialist advice, guidance and consultation to honorary and trainee psychotherapists within The Womans Service team by contributing directly to the trainees progress in liaison with the training organisation. To conform with the training organisations requirements.
To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.
To assist the lead psychotherapists of the service with the management of the waiting list which involves engaging in case discussions in the team, and allocation of cases as appropriate.
Teaching, training, and supervision
To receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior psychotherapist or other senior professional colleague.
To provide professional and clinical supervision to trainee and honorary psychotherapists in the Womans Service team
Management, recruitment, policy and service development
To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the teams operational policies and services, through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit.
To have up-to-date knowledge of guidance for psychological professionals and of trust policies and procedures in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and to disseminate this knowledge to other professionals as needed.
To advise both service and professional management on those aspects of the service where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.
