Preceptorship Specialist Psychologist / Psychological Therapist

Job summary

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen in our Devon Prisons cluster for a Band 7 preceptorship to 8a. This role includes a relocation package. The post holder will also be funded to complete formal training in: EMDR, DBT or MBT within their first two years in post and access to specialist supervision in the approach.

The successful candidate will hold their own clinical caseload and be responsible for supervising pre-qualified psychological therapists. Supervision skills training will be provided if required. Your progression is key, and you will be offered development sessions to support your career planning and professional development into the 8a role.

We would consider applications from newly qualified psychological therapists or those close to obtaining qualified status.

Main duties of the job

The post is part of the Oxleas Forensic and Prisons Directorate, reporting to Head of Healthcare and the Head of Psychological Therapies.

The post is based at HMP Exeter, HMP Channings Wood and HMP Dartmoor.

Oxleas Forensic Psychological Therapies department is an unusually large, long established and nationally well regarded specialty. Psychological therapists are highly valued within the wider directorate and trust and occupy a variety of service-wide leadership roles, including as Responsible Clinicians. Within the psychological therapies department, there is a focus on attachment, trauma and systemic approaches with expert supervision available for several evidence-based therapy modalities such Mentalisation based Therapy (MBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). We offer a unique range of training opportunities and will invest in supporting you to extend your knowledge and expertise.
