Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Bexley Community Neuro rehabilitation team due to new investment and expansion of the team. We are looking for a motivated and passionate clinical neuropsychologist to join our forward-thinking and dedicated MDT, comprising of occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, rehab assistants and nurses.

You will be part of a dynamic team, committed to multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. Our team is cohesive and mutually supportive, with a commitment to a high quality responsive service. We provide neuro rehab in a person's own home, to adults aged 16 plus with a broad range of neurological conditions.

The post holder will receive specialist neuropsychology supervision. Professional supervision will also be provided from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, directorate Head of Psychological therapies.

There is also funding available to support completion of a Masters in Clinical Neuropsychology, the post holder will be expected to complete six months of experience in post with the Bexley Neurorehabilitation team before starting the above MSc ,and this will be subject to line manager approval.

Main duties of the job

To set up and ensure the delivery of the systematic provision of a high quality and specialist psychological therapy service to service users of the Bexley Community Neuro rehabilitation service.

To offer training, supervision, consultation, advice and guidance on the provision of psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and other clinical members of the team, and to other non-professional carers and a range of professional bodies.

To offer training, supervision, consultation, advice and guidance to other neuropsychology colleagues as appropriate across the Directorate and Trust.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service. This role will develop as the service is established.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

  • HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist
  • BPS Accredited Clinical Psychology Training including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology

Desirable

  • Post-Doctoral training in neuropsychology
  • Leadership or management training
  • Recognised supervision training

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist with 2 years at a highly specialist level
  • Highly specialised knowledge and expertise in providing neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation to clients with a range of neuropsychological issues. Experience should include: behaviour management, fatigue management and appropriate psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision

Desirable

  • Experience in service development

Knowledge

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
