Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to come and join our well-respected College Therapy Service based at London South East Colleges (LSEC), Bromley Campus -Nido Volans Centre. You will be based full-time at the college and work term-time only. Your role would be as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant but you will offer some support to physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

The Therapy Team comprises of Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT), Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. Students attending the college's Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) courses have varying levels of learning disability or learning difficulties and additional complexities such as autism, ADHD. Our work here focuses on supporting tutors to differentiate the curriculum and use a variety of strategies to maximise students' learning and engagement.

You will need to have an interest and some experience of supporting young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) to make the most of being at college and to prepare for adulthood. You will need to have good interpersonal, literacy and very good IT skills, be able to work to deadlines and support any training delivered and running therapy groups with over-sight from the therapists.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be to support the therapists by carrying out a range of clinical admin tasks such as keeping caseload lists up to date, processing referrals, creating resources, modelling therapy recommendations to tutors and LSAs etc. You will also help with assessments by gathering information, carrying out structured assessments and liaising with college staff. You will help therapists to review student's progress and college staff's adherence to recommended strategies. You will also devise and make visual communication resources and support use of high tech Augmentative and Alternate Communication aids and apps, therefore should be confidant in using technology.
