Job summary

The Bexley Community Rehabilitation Team is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the integrated Community Assessment and Rehabilitation (CAR) Team that is community-based and community-focused in Bexley. The post holder should have proven experience of working with adults with a wide range of conditions, including complex cases in a multi-disciplinary team as well as evidence of recent training with a rehabilitation emphasis.

If you have experience working in rehabilitation, or as an Occupational therapist in a health setting, hold a full UK driving licence, and have excellent communication and observation skills, then we have the perfect job for you.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible Band 7 Occupational therapist to join our community Team. You need to be an autonomous practitioner with flexible problem solving skills, a holistic approach to care and be efficient in your time and people management. The team provides provides a great opportunity for joint working, goal setting and regular in-service training.

You will have support from an experienced and friendly team and experienced staff across the locality. It is essential that you hold a full UK driving license and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.

Main duties of the job

CHRT provides assessment and treatment, to housebound patients within the London Borough of Bexley. The team mainly consists of physiotherapists, but an opportunity has arisen to introduce this occupational therapy post to enhance the service provision. The remit involves health prevention as well as delivering interventions that promote and optimise rehabilitation and occupational performance.

The team also supports with the management and prevention of falls within the community through the delivery of falls clinics and groups. The team will also be providing training and consultative input to care homes within the borough to support with the management of falls within these settings.

The occupational therapist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including health and social services colleagues to meet the needs of clients referred to CHRT, ensuring the highest possible standards of practice.

  • To conduct specialist assessments with the MDT
  • To provide highly specialist Occupational Therapy input to clients
  • To lead in the delivery of a specialist Occupational Therapy service within the multidisciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner, ensuring the highest possible standards of practice.
  • To deliver a broad range of training programmes covering all aspects of Occupational Therapy rehabilitation and professional development to the multidisciplinary team.
