Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly specialist SLT with clinical specialism in speech disorder & developmental language disorder to join Bexley Children's SLT service. Whilst delivering specialist assessment & intervention to children & young people, you will also be instrumental in shaping & influencing SLT clinical service delivery with these client groups. You will have a track record of delivering evidence based interventions, responsibility for care pathways & of training & supervising staff.
The postholder will have experience in SEND/EHCP, contributing & leading on improvements in practice across the service, providing support for colleagues & be involved in multi-disciplinary working with the London Borough of Bexley SEND team.
You will work within the integrated Bexley Joint Communication Team, made up of Therapists, Assistants & Advisory Teacher (from Bexley Local Authority). This part of the role involves visits to mainstream schools, assessment, recommendations to schools & opportunities to deliver training together with colleagues. The role involves advice to enable parents, carers & teaching staff to support the children.You will deliver specific EHCP SLT provision/commissioned care packages. As part of the Community Clinic Service you will contribute to, support & advise on the management of children with speech sound disorders.

Main duties of the job

- Provide highly specialist assessment & intervention to children & young people referred to the service, with areas of clinical specialism in developmental speech disorders & developmental language disorder (DLD)
- Deliver intervention & provision to commissioned EHCP care packages
- Be part of the multidisciplinary team (London Borough of Bexley SEND team) contributing to the co-ordination & delivery of SEND services across Bexley
- Assess the need for, develop & implement evidence-based speech & language therapy interventions to children with a wide range of speech, language & communication difficulties, including their areas of specialisms
- Provide highly specialist second opinions to other speech & language therapists /external professionals & support in the training & development of colleagues within the team
- Plan & organise outreach support to therapists working in other Bexley SLT teams - clinic, mainstream settings to support children achieve the best possible communication & mental health outcomes.
- Responsible for developing existing care pathways for areas of clinical specialisms
- Contribute to Trust, service & professional wide initiatives
