Bexley Care Older People Community Mental Health TeamHours per week: 37.5 hours An excellent opportunity has arisen for a 1 full time psychiatric nurse post in the Community Adult Mental Health directorate -Bexley Older Peoples Community Mental Health Team. We are looking for experienced registered mental health nurse who is motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. The successful applicant will have an understanding of the nature and impact of mental health problems and a genuine interest in working with older people. They will need to have effective communication skills and the ability to lead and work proactively and flexibly within the team and care coordinate a caseload. You will be expected to take part in the duty system that we currently operate including a late shift to 8 pm at least once a week with the Older People's Intensive Home Treatment Team (OPIHTT). Due to the pandemic, we currently operate a 9-5 duty system.
You will need to have at least one year of experience as a qualified nurse and having worked with older adults will be an advantage.We offer a comprehensive induction programme and continuing support and professional development. You will benefit from working within a creative and supportive team and will be encouraged to develop interventions suitable for our client group.
Main duties of the job
As a Registered Nurse based in the London Borough of Bexley. You will join friendly and supportive multi disciplinary teams to proactively engage and support adults with long term mental health conditions with their physical health needs. You will promote and deliver evidence-based care for service users either in their own homes or within a community based clinical environment. You will influence the way in which community mental health teams improve their physical health nursing skills, working independently as well as collaboratively across teams and services.
The successful candidate will be confident, organised, self motivated and be able to lead and support mental health nurses to assess and deliver person centred physical health care plans as well as able to use computerised systems and to audit data and report back in verbal or written form.
