Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for people who are about to graduate or have recently graduated. We are looking for people interested in making a difference to join us. Oxleas NHS Foundation is about improving lives and we want you to help us do that.

We're looking for people to join our first cohort of graduate mental health practitioners. You will be working within our mental health teams across Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich. We support thousands of people at any one time with their mental health and aim for them to be provided with outstanding care. This is a hugely rewarding opportunity, we want you to come on this journey with us and improve lives.

These roles are for a two-year initial term after which we will support you to secure a permanent position. We're looking for people who are or have recently completed a degree in any discipline. and who are:

o passionate about supporting people to improve their mental health
  • have developed an interest in working in the NHS
  • may be interested in further postgraduate study, perhaps pursuing clinical training
  • have well developed people skills
  • able to communicate and write well

Main duties of the job

We have a number of roles that present a fantastic opportunity for you to use the skills you have developed during your undergraduate studies. All roles are working with adults. These roles include:

Group facilitator

Care coordinator associate

Patient safety support officer

Crisis care associate

Inpatient care associate

We want to make the most of the skills and talent you offer and will support you through the entire graduate programme. We'll help you develop your career in the direction you want to go in. For the right candidates, we will offer:

  • Weekly supervision with your clinical supervisor to support you to develop and deliver in your role
  • Peer supervision with the cohort of graduates so that you can network and understand the range of roles your colleagues are undertaking
  • Access to training - this includes our mandatory training and the opportunity to undertake at least one training course
  • If you are interested in pursuing clinical training, for example to become a mental health nurse or occupational therapist, we have opportunities for further post- graduate study and training.
  • Support to find a position at the end of your programme

Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. 1 Group facilitator We run a number of group programmes that support a patients recovery, in this role you will work alongside a clinician facilitating

a group and working directly with patients.

  1. Care coordinator associate our care coordinators are the main point of contact for the patients on their caseload, they coordinate the involvement of other professionals and provide interventions, support and advice. A Care coordinator Associate is someone who works under the direct supervision of the care coordinators, establishing a one to one relationship with individuals, sharing the same caseload as their supervisor.
  • Patient safety support officer you will work alongside our Community Mental Health lead for patient safety, this is a role with limited patient contact but is a hugely important role for the teams you will work with. You will need excellent communication skills, both oral and written and enjoy working on reports. You will produce a patient safety newsletter for the directorate, produce reports that capture the data around our incidents, organise learning events and work with teams to complete action plans.
  • Crisis care associate Our Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams and our Liaison teams work into

Emergency Departments and in the community to provide urgent assessment and home treatment for people who are in a mental health crisis. You will work under the direct supervision of clinicians to provide care and practical support to the patient and their families for a short time, in their homes, until the crisis is resolved.

You will enjoy this role if you are interested in having a variety of experiences day to day; and have an interest in working with a team to support people and their families for a short time, through a challenging time in their lives.

  • Inpatient care associate Our inpatient wards provide care to people who are in an acute phase of mental illness which required a short period of hospital You will work with our practice

development nurses, matrons, our occupational therapists and psychologists to support patients and their families/ carers. The aim is to provide information to patients

and families/carers, to help them to understand their rights, and to assist them with queries and complaints. You will also be involved in providing practical support to people so that they can be supported to return to live in the community again swiftly. You will need excellent communication skills; as well as enthusiasm and curiosity to support staff and patients.
