Ward Manager, Band 7 Permanent - Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
This is a ward manager position for Atlas House, providing an 11 bedded specialist inpatient service for people with learning disabilities and mental illness/autism/challenging behaviour.
Key elements of the role include:
- Operational management of the clinical area.
- Lead and effectively manage the ward nursing team (including HCAs).
- Ensure high standards of evidence-based, patient centred care are maintained.
- Establish and maintain systems for clinical governance.
- To effectively and efficiently manage ward budget and resources.
- To promote good communication within the team and with external agencies.
Main duties of the job
The ward manager role is fundamental to the successful provision of safe inpatient care, in this case, for people with learning disabilities who meet mental health act criteria. The people admitted to Atlas House have a variety of needs, requiring different approaches that include positive behavioural support, psychiatric intervention, nursing care, psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, art and music therapy.
