This is an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Psychological Therapist post within the London Pathways Partnership (LPP). LPP is a consortium of five London NHS Trusts co-delivering community and custodial services under the national Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway programme in partnership with Her Majesty's Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) and third sector providers including Together for Mental Wellbeing, Women in Prison and Penrose. Our staff are among the most experienced teams nationally working with men and women who have serious offence histories that are linked to their personality difficulties.
The post holder will provide highly specialised psychological input to a pan-London Integrated Community Pathways Service (ICPS), incorporating the Core-Offender Management service as well as Standard and Enhanced Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (IIRMS).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based within the South East ICPS team at Lewisham probation and will also attend local probation offices. The postholder will work closely with the South East Leads and Probation Service partners to provide a psychologically-informed service that aims to support the effective management and engagement of offenders with personality disorders/difficulties whilst they are residing in the community. The postholder will hold a caseload of service users, who will require comprehensive clinical assessments/formulations/risk management plans and will contribute to the delivery of intensive psychological interventions, with scope to include Mentalisation Based Treatment, schema therapy or trauma-focused interventions. Consultation and liaison with professionals in the Probation Service, MAPPA and other health/criminal justice/third sector agencies is required; and to ensure the delivery of high-quality services meeting performance, quality and governance standards.

- To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care
- To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
- To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses
- To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group
- To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically-based care plans
